I'm getting a tattoo next Sunday, but I have had to switch my appointment on my artist about eight times. Normally I'm not so flaky, but two people have quit at work and I needed to pick up the hours since everyone else is still in training. Then I got sick, and had to do two rounds of antibiotics. Ugh.

I've been staying "in the rules" at the shop as far as switching the dates go, but I still feel terrible. I don't really have the extra money for a better tip, but would cookies for the shop be ok? Is this totally weird or would it be cool to be like, "I suck and I really appreciate you guys dealing with my crap because I know I've been a pain in the butt and I'm totes sorry."

There is some GREAT art around here, and I'm hoping I can get some help :)

I have discovered my bank account a little bit fuller than I was expecting so I would like to get one of my planned tattoos. I think "to thine own self be true" is better suited to the life phase I'm in, but I'd love some suggestions for font and placement. I don't tend to like anything too "Gothic" or scrolly in nature - I like a sans serif font.

As to placement - over my heart seems to make the most "sense" ... but how was healing? I'm a big girl with boobs to match, and I'm wondering how much the bra makes things worse :s

Also, is there any imagery that comes to mind that reinforces this idea? I'd be okay with text-only, and I could add imagery later... just thinking out loud I guess. Stylewise I'm a little bit in love with this artist, after discovering his page 5 mins ago ;)

Placement: how about the wrists? it's a lot of text for one, but I could put "to thine own self" on one side and "be true" on the other...? I dunno.

I have question.

I have my whole back/butt tattooed by Kris Roberts @ Shipwreck Tattoos and I really want to figure out a way to bring the peice over to my ribs and down my stomach to fill those gaps. Right now I have a giant squid sinking a ship with an storm background and a banner across my sholders that says "Just Let go". Any ideas?

so i recently started going to ucsc and i was wondering what is a tattoo shop you would recommend in santa cruz? i walked into staircase tattoo on front street and i got really bad vibes the people didnt seem friendly or willing to do any tattoos.. have any of you gotten tattoos in santa cruz? tell me your experience!

hey guys. I previously posted about getting a white wrist tattoo, and bc of all your advice I decided against it (thanks). I had been thinking about getting that for years, so was a little disappointed when I learned it wasn't for me. I changed it up a little and have been thinking about now getting, across my wrist, in small, black, type writer font: Believe.Love.Create
A few things I wonder about are:
1. fading, even with a touch-up. I don't want to lose the boldness of the black.
2. definition. since it will be so small, over the years is it going to 'bleed' out and loose its definition? I don't want it to look like those old, nasty, blurry war tattoos you see on all the 70 year old men!
3. and anything else you think I should know.

I'm in such a rambling mood today, isn't it obvious? So glad i'm doing super well at school, people may knock nerds but never being worried about a test because when you take it you know pretty much most of the answers, well I'd rather that!
 I need to focus better when it comes to writing, I wish there was some magical way of making it easier to concentrate. I think my motivation is a problem to. It  is hard for me to focus but when I empty my mind onto here or in a notebook then it helps but my mind is too active. It's hard to focus on one thing when your mind is thinking about lots of things at once.

I have never had a tattoo done before. I'm thinking of getting one today or within the next few days, I am hoping for a cover-up tattoo as I tried giving myself a tattoo but I didn't finish. I have two long snake-like swirls on top of eachother and then a crescent moon on my arm, with an almost crescent going the opposite way next to it. I need to fix it--pretty badly and I'm starting college up in the spring--can't have anyone seeing it because it's not good.

I want something that reflects spirituality or paganism--like if the moon could be colored a bit or maybe just inked in more black, and the swirls could be celtic knots maybe or something...any suggestions? I'll let you know how it turns out. I would like a phoenix or something symbolic of strength and flight.
